The therapeutic services offered in collaboration with the “Center for Special Education,” “Home Management,” and “Outreach Programs” aim to support children with multiple disabilities. These services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy, speech therapy, and equine therapy. The main goal is to provide comprehensive rehabilitation and promote functional independence for children and young adults with special needs.

Therapy

“Physiotherapy Relieving Pain, Restoring Life”
Physiotherapy services focus on the medical and social rehabilitation of children with multiple disabilities, employing a variety of techniques to enhance functional abilities. Through individualized, group, and family training sessions, functional progress is achieved. In collaboration with occupational and speech therapy departments, the physiotherapy center adopts a multidisciplinary approach. The facility also serves as a training ground for undergraduate clinical placements and hosts workshops and skill development programs for therapists.

“Occupational Therapy: Adding Life to Years”
As a key part of our multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapy unit offers a wide range of services, including individualized assessments, sensory integration, early intervention, and skill development for independent daily living. The unit also evaluates mobility aids, posture, and recommends necessary adaptations. In collaboration with Boston University’s Occupational Therapy College, we provide supervised international summer internships each July.

Disha collaborates with the Cavalry unit at the Army Campus to provide Equine Therapy, utilizing multisensory techniques to enhance children’s rehabilitation. By harnessing the movement of horses, this therapy delivers graded sensory input, similar to physical and occupational therapy. It promotes improved neurological function and sensory processing, allowing participants to apply these skills in everyday tasks.

Healing through Water, Strength through Motion
The therapy department introduced aquatic therapy in 2011, offering a specialized therapy pool designed specifically for children with disabilities. It is the only facility of its kind in Rajasthan, providing a unique and effective therapeutic environment for rehabilitation.

The Sensory Integration program, led by our occupational therapist in a dedicated, fully equipped unit, addresses sensory imbalances, particularly in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through individual, group, and classroom sessions, sensory stimulation and responses are integrated to improve motor functions. This comprehensive program significantly enhances the quality of life for participants.

“Let’s Talk Emotions”
The Speech Therapy department works closely with the Center for Special Education to meet the unique needs of children with special needs. The focus is on addressing speech, language, communication challenges, and oromotor issues related to eating and swallowing. Qualified therapists manage a range of disorders, including disarticulation, dysfluency, voice disorders, and feeding difficulties. Regular therapy sessions, combined with parental counseling, help establish a home-based intervention plan. Referrals come from the Center for Special Education, Home Management, and Early Intervention units.
