Late Mrs. P.N. Kavoori is a renowned figure in the education world, leaving a lasting impact on the Indian educational landscape, particularly in Jaipur. She served as the founding principal of the esteemed Sawai Mansingh Vidyalaya in Jaipur and, after retiring, went on to establish Disha – a Resource Centre for Multiple Disabilities, a landmark achievement in disability education in the city.
Her deep commitment to supporting children with special needs is reflected in her vision for Disha. She believed that every child, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to thrive. Her goal was to create a nurturing haven where compassion and expertise come together to offer tailored programs that unlock the unique potential of each child.
Mrs. Mala Khaitan embarked on a remarkable educational journey 25 years ago. As the Chairperson and Founder of Disha, her vision is driven by a deep commitment to advocacy and transformative impact. Disha strives to be a catalyst for systemic change, challenging the conventional support structures.
She envisions an organization that not only offers essential services but also actively engages in advocacy, influencing policies that shape the future for children with special needs. She champions research, collaborations, and educational initiatives to raise awareness and foster understanding. With unwavering dedication, her mission is “to build a future where inclusivity is not the exception, but a core principle of collective compassion.
Dr Bharti Khunteta is a highly skilled Human Development Professional having work experience as a Researcher, Counsellor, Professor, Principal and Director in Academic and Management Colleges for the last 26 years.
She has also published a book titled ‘Early Childcare & Stimulation’ in addition to several research papers in National and International Journals. She has also received Fellow membership and Appreciation Certificate in the Rural Development Programme. Aside from academia, Dr. Khunteta is also a state level sportswoman. As a passionate and self-motivated social education professional, Dr Khunteta leads Disha’s operational and administrative work. It is her belief that through collaborative efforts, we can create an environment where special needs children not only receive the specialised care they deserve, but also embark on a journey of self -discovery, empowerment, and integration into a society that embraces them wholeheartedly.
